We are excited to introduce Kimberly Baker as GEO Prep Baker Academy’s principal. Ms. Baker comes to us from our GEO Prep Mid-City Academy. She started with GEO in 2015 and has been a Kindergarten Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Principal within the GEO network of schools. She knows the GEO model exceptionally well and is the perfect fit for GEO Prep Baker.
Ms. Baker has been an educator since 2007 and has held several positions from Pre-Kindergarten Teacher, Special Education Teacher, and Master Teacher to Associate Principal and Principal. She has a genuine love for children and is passionate about their education. She heard a quote by Theodore Roosevelt years ago and shared that it has been stamped on her heart ever since. “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.” So, throughout her career, the priority has been to build school relationships with parents, scholars, and teachers.
We are delighted to announce Amechie Trahan as our Associate Principal for GEO Prep Baker Academy. Ms. Trahan has been an educator for 15+ years. She holds a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from Southern University. During her 15 years, she has been a Teacher, Instructional Coach, and Assistant Principal.
She recognized early on that many of the students she was serving had significant achievement gaps and basic wellness needs that impeded them from fully engaging in learning. Her desire is to provide the best educational opportunities for students to close those gaps. She believes that teachers are the greatest asset to the students they serve. “As educational leaders, we can invest in the best curricula, new facilities, or even the latest technologies, but it means nothing if we do not invest in the development of our teachers”.
